Ahti Paunu (FI)


Ahti Paunu (b. 1975) is a founding member of Finnish six-voice a cappella ensemble Rajaton where he sings baritone. The group was founded in 1997 and nowadays they perform around a hundred concerts and workshops all around the world each year. Rajaton has released 17 different albums with one double platinum, three platinum and eight gold records in Finland, as their worldwide record sales are approximately 400 000 copies altogether.


Ahti Paunu studied music education at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki from where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2008. His main instruments there were classical and pop/jazz-singing. The studies also included a lot of didactics, arranging and choir conducting.


In addition to a cappella singing, composing and arranging one of his passions is teaching and coaching vocal croups and choirs as well as individual singers, which he has been doing a lot all around the world. He has also been performing frequently as a soloist releasing two solo albums: “Lähtevien laivojen satama” (2002) and “Haaveita ja särkyneitä unelmia” (2013).
